Ray Gordon Burgess passed away September 13th in Grangeville after suffering from prostate cancer for several years.
Born in Buhl, ID, on October 12, 1934, to Theodore and Ruth Burgess, Ray later lived in northern California.
Ray and his first wife, Dorothy, had five children. He worked as a trucker, delivering groceries throughout the northwest.
After his first wife died in 1991, Ray went to RVing and going to Arizona. He enjoyed 4-wheeling in the desert and being a handyman. It was in Quartzsite where he met and later married Anita Smith. After their marriage on 12/12/05, Ray and Anita spent time in Quartzsite, AZ, Riggins, ID, and Grangeville, ID.
Proceeded in death by his parents and first wife, Ray is survived by his wife, Anita, brother Howard, sister Beverly, and children Danny, Renea, Gordon, Michelle, and Scott. Step-children are Ernie (Judy) Robinson of White Bird, and Freda (Ray) Stowers of Riggins. Ray is also survived by several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, relatives, and many friends.
The family would like to especially thank Hospice and Grangeville Convalescent home for their wonderful care, and the many friends and family that shared their time and friendship with Ray during this time. Services for Ray will be held at Blackmer Funeral Home on Friday, September 21,2012 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice in Grangeville, ID or a charity of your choice.
