GRANGEVILLE: LeRoy R. Stevens, 79, of Grangeville passed away Thursday, October 20, 2005 at his home.
He was born November 12, 1925 at San Luis Obispo, California to John and Maude Dickerson Stevens. He attended school in California before joining the US Army during WWII and served overseas. He was discharged in 1945. He married Winona Ulricksen and they later divorced. He again joined the US Army in 1949 and was discharged in 1952. He moved to the Seattle, Washington area and worked for Boeing. He moved to Idaho in 1972 and he married Oliva Poxleitner Brady in 1974.
He enjoyed stamp collecting, rocks, camping, fishing, traveling and together he and Oliva traveled to Alaska nearly 20 times for fishing and camping.
He is survived by his wife Oliva at the family home in Grangeville, his children, Daniel Stevens, Deirdre Affleck, Mark Stevens and Heidi Jennings, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren, two sisters, Myrtle Ott and Irene McCheseney, his step children, Bill Brady, Ray Brady, Deanna Mortenson and Joyce Dickey, and many step grandchildren, great grandchildren and four step great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by tow sons Michael and John.
A rosary will be held Monday, October 24, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Grangeville, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Prairie View Cemetery, Grangeville. Friends may call Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Blackmer Funeral Home, Grangeville.
