Emma Jean Wilikins-Harris-Greenrod, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Grangeville Health and Rehab. Center.
Jean was born November 16, 1927 near Grangeville a daughter of Lester and Eva Long Wilkins. She attended grade school at Gill’s Point and graduated from Grangeville High School in 1944. She married William R. Harris on August 3, 1946 and he was killed on July 2, 1947. She married James R. Greenrod on May 4, 1951 and they later divorced. Her daughter Amy was born in 1955.
Jean worked as a legal secretary for various lawyers in Grangeville, Lewiston, Boise and Anchorage, AK. She returned to Grangeville in 1955 and began work at Idapine Mills, Inc., later Wickes Forest Industries, she retired in 1984 as Accounting Manager for Wickes Mills at Grangeville, Townsend, MT, and Evanston, WY. She had several part time bookkeeping jobs after that, including working on the 1990 census and as the bookkeeper for Gem Designs.
She was an avid reader, writer and our family historian. She helped with the composition of several books relating to Idaho County History. She also like to write poetry and gave us a booklet of her poems.
She is survived by brothers Ted Wilkins and his wife, Mary and Merlin. She is also survived by nieces, Carmen Wilkins and Carla Bruegeman and nephews Steve, Mark, and Jeff Wilkins. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Amy.
She will be interred at Fairview Cemetery. Family and friends of Jean’s are invited to the home of Ted Wilkins on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 4:00 pm. Arrangements are under the direction of Blackmer Funeral Home, Grangeville.
