Gladys Evelyn Jaques, age 80 died December 6, 2004 at Upland, California while on an extended visit with her daughter. She was a resident of Grangeville.
Gladys was born September 4, 1924 at Clearwater, Idaho to Walter “Babe” and Blanche Murphy Brown. She attended grade school at Clearwater and graduated from Kooskia High School.
She moved to Grangeville and worked for the Candy Kitchen. She then moved to Weiser, Idaho and worked as administrator for the Selective Service. While in Weiser she met Merlin A. “Jake” Jaques and they were married at Weiser on Feb. 22, 1947.
Mr. Jaques worked for the Federal Aviation Administration and in 1956 they moved to Anchorage, Alaska living there until 1966 at which time moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1969 they moved to Hemet, California and in 1974 to Upland, California. In 1984 they moved to Grangeville. Mr. Jaques died in 1995 and Gladys has continued to live in Grangeville until the present time.
Gladys enjoyed art, painting in watercolor, crocheting and reading. Her great sense of humor was enjoyed by everyone around her.
She is survived by two sons; Dennis and wife Ginny Jaques of North Vancouver, Canada and Jeffery and wife Hilary Jaques of Chicago, Ill. Three daughters; Rebecca and husband Monte Webb of Boise, Lynette Jaques and Lori and husband Tony Sataman both of Upland, California. Two sisters, Jessie McCulley and Iris Talbott of Grangeville. Seven grand and four great grand children. She was preceded in death by her twin brothers Seibert and Harlan Brown. Two sisters Cleo Davis and Olive McCulley.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 14, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the Blackmer Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Gott of the Grangeville Christian Church officiating.
Private internment will take place at Lewis-Clark Memorial Garden Cemetery in Lewiston.
