Ferdilia “Faye” Holcomb, 97 of Grangeville, formerly of Lewiston, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, October 11, 2012 at the Grangeville Health and Rehab. Center.
Faye was born on June 15, 1915 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a daughter of Simon and Catherine Zamora Maldonado. After the death of her parents, she was raised by her brother.
She married Jacob Duran, and together they had 3 children. Jacob passed away in the summer of 1948.
Faye moved to California. She enjoyed dancing at the Palladium in Los Angeles; she once was fortunate to have a dance with Jimmy Stewart.
Faye met the love of her life and married Warren C. Holcomb on October 2, 1948. They lived in California where their son Warren was born. They moved to Lewiston, Idaho on October 31, 1961. Together they owned Skip’s Fountain in Lewiston for 35 years. She enjoyed preparing her tasty lunch specials and many of the faces at the counter became dear friends.
Faye and Warren loved to travel in their motorhome to California to visit family. After Warren passed away in 2003, Faye moved to Grangeville.
Faye is survived by her children, Rosemarie (Cesar) Aquins of San Gabriel, Ca, Paul (Kathy) Duran of Hesperia, CA, David (Marlene) Duran of West Covina, CA, and Warren D. (Theresa) Holcomb of Grangeville. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 5 brothers, 1 sister and 2 grandchildren.
A rosary will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 10:30 a.m., at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Grangeville with a funeral mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 3:00 p.m., at Normal Hill Cemetery, Lewiston.
