Elaine Meissner, age 62 passed away peacefully from cancer surrounded by family on June 20, 2018. Her battle with cancer was faced by tremendous courage and strength. Elaine was born in Glen Cove, Long Island, New York March 6, 1956
In her senior year in High School she met the love of her life, William (Bill) Meissner they married on Nov. 10, 1974. They lived the next 18 years in New York where they had 2 children, Doreen and William Meissner Jr. In July 1992 they decided to move to Idaho to be closer to Elaine’s family in Grangeville.
Elaine was employed at Cash and Carry for 24years. She was well known for her vibrant smile and exceptional kindness greeting customers at the store. During this time she also volunteered as an EMT at Syringa Hospital for 2 years.
Elaine had many interest and spent a lot of her time, tending to her flowers and feeding the many birds that would come to her yard. She loved the Ocean, Sunsets and Sunrises. She spent many hours with Family and friends just visiting around a campfire, four wheeling and fishing. She loved to go to garage sales, dancing and her collection of purses was amazing. Elaine was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Elaine’s kindness and humor will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She will never be forgotten…
Elaine was proceeded in death by her parents, Mary and Yngve Swanstrom, brother Paul Swanstrom and Great Niece Alliee Rose.
She is survived by her husband William Meissner, Grangeville. Children Doreen (Mike) Brewster and William (Hope) Meissner, Lewiston. Her brothers, Dennis Swanstrom of Florida, Roger, (Maria) Swanstrom & Bob (Pam) Swanstrom of Grangeville. Her sisters, Pam (Jack) Voorhees, Meridian & Alison (Craig) Stahl of Grangeville. 5 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Elaine’s life will be held on Monday July 2, 2018 at the Grangeville Christian Church at 11:00am. Reception immediately following at the church.
