Edwin A. Janson, 75 of Lewiston, Idaho passed away December 24, 2012 with loved ones by his side.
Son of John Hjalmer and Dagmar Kangas Janson, Edwin was born at home in Becker County, Minnesota July 10, 1937. He attended school in Minnesota, graduating from Detroit Lakes High School. He worked with his brothers at the home farm in the Strawberry Lake, Minnesota and logging in surrounding areas. He joined the National Guard and attended college in Fargo, North Dakota. Following his education he worked in Duluth, Minnesota. He then worked for United Hardware as a sales representative for 30 years and lived in South Dakota and Northern Minnesota before retiring in the early 2000’s. He married Greta Junes in 2002 and they have made their home in Lewiston, Idaho since 2003.
Edwin enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and was an avid sports fan; especially baseball and all Minnesota sports teams.
He is survived by his wife Greta; his three daughters, Heather, Kyra and Holly; his son Nathan and precious granddaughter Adeline; step sons, Dalen, Kenn and Jason; and six more grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Donald and Raymond; his sisters, Elsie, Edna, Eleanor, Kay and Luella; and sister in law, Beatrice. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Elmer, Arvid and Leonard; his sisters Alma, Linda and Delores.
Visitation is on Sunday, December 30, 2012 from 12:00 noon to 1:30 pm at Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville, Idaho. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Grangeville Prairie View Cemetery.
A memorial service will be held at the Finnish Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church in Menahga, Minnesota on January 11, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.
