Delmer Guetzloe Drake, 79, a life long member of Kamiah, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2007, at Clearwater Valley Hospital in Orofino.
Born January 29, 1928, he was the son of Roy and Uda Guetzloe Drake, and an ancestor of Ephram Conrad, one of the first settlers in the Kamiah Valley.
Immediately following graduation from Kamiah High School, Delmer was inducted into the U.S. Army, and since that time has been involved with the Kamiah Legion Post, including serving as Commander of the Post. Other organizations he was involved with include the Kamiah Grange, the Lewis County Historical Society, and the Plant & Pray Garden Club.
He worked for the Kamiah True Value Hardware for several years and was involved with the Kamiah Senior Citizens from its beginning to the present time.
Delmer is survived by his sister, Virginia, of Kamiah; sister-in-law Doris Drake of Boise; a nephew and his family, Greg Drake of Boise; a niece and her family, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Collins of Grangeville; and several other family members in Kamiah.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 16, 2007, at 3:00 p.m., at Faith Lutheran Church in Kamiah, with Reverend Matthew Manz officiating. Burial will follow at Kamiah Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville.
