GRANGEVILLE: Anthony J Oreb, Jr. passed away December 8, 2005 at Grangeville Health and Rehabilitation from causes related to aging.
He was born to Antonio and Daisy Oreb at home on Sawtelle Blvd, West Los Angeles California, January 11, 1909. He married Helen Massie on October 19, 1935. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 1995.
Tony, known as A J, worked for Sears Roebuck and Co. for 38 years beginning as a stock boy on roller skates and ending as manager of the Hollywood store. After retirement he and Helen volunteered all over the world with the International Executive Service Corps and traveled privately to 39 countries. He loved to travel, read books, attend plays, work on his computer, and study French, physics, and astronomy. He was doing all things up to two months before his death. He was a long time member of Oneonta Congregational Church, So. Pasadena, CA, serving as its moderator for many years.
Tony and Helen lived in Alhambra, CA from their marriage until retirement when they moved to Ventura CA. Tony moved to Grangeville ID in 2001 to be closer to his family.
He is survived by his daughters and husbands: Elizabeth and Jerome Cain, Lincoln MT and Katherine and Kenneth Carpenter, Grangeville ID; four grandchildren and
spouses: Kevin and Kimberly Carpenter, Caldwell ID, Karen and Tony Kight, Lewiston ID, Keith and Kristine Carpenter, Winona MN and Kent Carpenter, Richmond CA; 13 great grandchildren: Kaleigh, Kaleb, Kristian, Kamas, Kourtne, KJ Carpenter, Caldwell ID, Kale, Samuel, Hannah Kight, Lewiston ID and Konnor, Kaden, Kody , Kaleb Carpenter, Winona MN. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 1995.
