Alma Rose Poxleitner, 88 passed into eternal rest on Sept. 9, 2018.
Alma was born to John and Anna Sarbacher on March 31, 1930 in Ferdinand, Idaho. She was the second of 4 children. She attended elementary school at Icicle Flat and high school in Ferdinand, Idaho through the 10th grade.
Alma worked in her mother’s restaurant. According to Alma’s memoirs “In April at the end of my sophomore year this sailor (Vince) came to the restaurant one day and I guess he liked what he saw and asked me to a movie and the rest of the story is we were married Nov. 5, 1946 in Ferdinand Catholic Church.” They made their home on a ranch in Keuterville, Idaho where they raised their family and built their life together.
Alma was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She created a loving, happy home for her family. She had high expectations for her children and taught by example. Her Catholic Faith was central to her life and everything else was built around that faith, especially in raising her children. Mass and family Rosaries were important. She had tremendous patience, especially with her children. She placed a high value on education, helped with homework, she could correct beginner readers from memory and encouraged all her children to join the school band. She also supported the kids in countless 4-H projects for over thirty years. She loved and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the cookie jar was always full when they and their friends came to visit.
She served her community through sharing her gift of cooking in the Christian Mothers, Holy Cross Guild and VFW functions as well as bringing food to elderly friends and relatives.
Alma is survived by her sister Norma (Phil) Bruegman, 14 children, 36 grandchildren and their spouses and 47 great-grandchildren.
